Union Recognition
Unite have now written to Bilfinger Salamis requesting that the company voluntarily recognise the OCG unions (Unite, the RMT and GMB) for the purposes of Collective Bargaining.
The first step is to ask the company to recognise the unions voluntarily. This request has been made and we are awaiting a response from the employer.
If Bilfinger refuse to recognise the trade unions for the purposes of collective bargaining voluntarily, then we will need to trigger the statutory (legal) process of applying for trade union recognition.
To safeguard the process we have initially identified offshore scaffolders as the Bargaining Group we are seeking trade union recognition for.
The reason for this is simple: Scaffolders are the only group that are sufficiently organised to pursue this matter properly at this stage. If you are not a scaffolder and want to work with Unite to be included in any future trade union recognition campaign then you need to get in touch Today.

As is well known Bilfinger Salamis Offshore came out of the OCA Agreement. some time ago.
This disappointing move by the employer left many Unite members within Bilfinger Salamis unsure of what exactly this might mean for them and their employment in the short, medium and long term.
However, a committed, passionate and skilled group of Unite activists, with the support of Unite Scotland, have now established a Bilfinger Salamis Offshore Branch.
Many Unite members are now receiving high quality individual representation and support from the new Bilfinger Salamis Offshore Branch of Unite.
The Branch and the membership within Bilfinger Salamis Offshore is growing every week and continues to go from strength to strength.
With a Unite Recognition Campaign on the horizon in the not too distant future, now is the time to roll up your sleeves and get involved. Contact Phil or Peter to get involved on your installation.
